Super Bowl + Sunday = True LOVE Always! At least around our house, it does. Even if you are not a huge football fan, there is oh’ so ~ much ~ to ~ LOVE about Super Bowl Sunday.

FOOD ~ FOOD ~ oh’ for the LOVE of FOOD! Along with Thanksgiving, this day is easily ranked up there among my top three of favorite food days. Y to the UMMY!

With that being said, DO NOT ~ I repeat DO NOT turn down any invites to a Super Bowl Fiesta AND if you get invited to more than one GO! . . . . Go to all and eat to your hearts’ content. Good times will be had, I guarantee it.

I also vote that if you don’t know a soul having a Super Bowl party, do one of two things. A. Have your own party, with ALL of your favorite foods and desserts and hoopla! B. Consider yourself invited to my house! :J

Ready. Set. Let’s create and bake a masterpiece of football ~ deliciousness.

Today we are baking a fun, edible and completely creative Football Hero Sandwich. Fill it with your favorite deli meats and cheeses and you’ve got yourself a start to a great day.

Football Hero Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 6 Rhodes Dinner Rolls, thawed to room temperature
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Mayonnaise, if desired
  • 3 lettuce leaves
  • 3 slices deli ham
  • 3 slices cheese

Directions:

Cut ½ off of one roll and roll into a 10-inch rope.

Cut the rope into 4 segments for the laces. Set aside.

2

Press remaining 5 ½ rolls into a football shape leaving the top mounded and edges thinner. Pull the ends to exaggerate the points.

Place on a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. With a knife, make a slight cut across the top of the football not quite reaching the points.

Lay each lace across the cut. Using a toothpick or knife, push the ends of the laces down into the football securing them tightly.

Brush with egg and let rise for 30 minutes.

Bake @ 350°F 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and then slice. Spread with mayonnaise, if desired and stuff with lettuce, deli meat and cheese.

There you have it friends Football, FOOD and Fun . . . . EnJOY!
